- Describe accomplishments of the NH CCC and priorities of the 2010-2014 New Hampshire Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan;
- Describe broad needs of survivors and national efforts to address these needs;
- Describe revisions in the CoC Standards and the revision process;
- Explain the principal accomplishments of the new standards;
- Identify the five most “patient-centered” standards and compliance requirements for each program;
- Identify resources available to implement the CoC standards; and
- Identify tools and resources available to address the needs of survivors.
Plenary Speakers
Rebecca Kirch, JD
Rebecca Kirch is Director of Quality of Life & Survivorship for the National Home Office of the American Cancer Society in Washington D.C. She provides strategic direction to bridge the Society’s survivorship-related research, policy, and program initiatives. Ms. Kirch also serves as a quality cancer care knowledge expert for the Society’s advocacy initiatives and activities to improve quality of life and reduce suffering for patients, survivors, and caregivers.
Diana Dickson-Witmer, MD, FACS
Dr. Diana Dickson-Witmer is Associate Medical Director at the Christiana Care Breast Center at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center in Newark, Delaware. She is a member of the Cancer Care Standards Development CoC Research Program and served as Vice-Chair of CoC 2012 Standards Revision Committee.
Teresa Ponn, MD, FACS
Dr. Teresa Ponn is a surgeon at the Elliot Breast Health Center in Manchester, NH. She is the New Hampshire State Chair for the CoC and has been a member of the Board of Directors for the New Hampshire Comprehensive Cancer Collaboration since 2009. Dr. Ponn currently serves as Medical Advisory Committee Chair for the NH CCC.
Judy Cerrito
Judy Cerrito is Coordinator for the LIVESTRONG program at the YMCA of Greater Providence in Rhode Island. Ms. Cerrito, a cancer survivor and fitness instructor, helped develop a program for other survivors. She subsequently worked with Stanford University in California and was selected by the Lance Armstrong Foundation to take part in a strength and fitness initiative for cancer survivors. Ms. Cerrito is a member of the Partnership to Reduce Cancer in Rhode Island.
